Curved metal wand goes between the end of the suction hose and straight 2 piece metal wand (see part #15546). Note how the quick connect wand has a black plastic fitting at its near end; this is part of the quick connect. Old style rubberized cuffs at the far end of the hose can fit over this plastic piece, but it is a very tight fit. For new quick connect cuff, see below.
